A Solid Foundation of Research and Development
Canon U.S. Life Sciences, Inc. (CLS) conducts research and development in the area of nanoliter (one billionth of a liter), continuous-flow, DNA analysis instruments. This research is conducted using microfluidic technology licensed from Caliper Life Sciences, Inc. The association of rapid, inline DNA amplification with high resolution thermal melting on a single platform enables high-speed, automated, multiplex genetic analysis.
CLS is developing a “sample-to-answer” solution for molecular diagnostics, with a platform designed to fully integrate clinical sample preparation and analysis. Together with automation and ease of use, the environmental benefits of miniaturization are features which are made possible through the application of Canon’s core technologies, developed over decades of research and development within Canon’s other business areas.
